After School

What is the focus of your afterschool program?

Critical Learning through Experience & Movement! We do this through a combination of Physical Activity, Outdoor Time, Unstructured Play, & Community Development. We use fitness as a vehicle for kids to grow and experience life, and develop into great humans!

What do kids get from your After School Program?

On the daily our after school program gives kids free play, access to risky play, which enhances self regulation, coach led activities and lots of agency over themselves as well as physical activity!

  • Physical Activity: Organized games & team activities teach kids communication, leadership, and resilience organically.
  • Outdoor Time: Humans are grounded in nature. Being outside helps regulate and restore kids’ nervous systems, reset circadian rhythms, and ward off illness & build immunity no matter the weather!
  • Unstructured Play: Adult-free, peer-only play gives kids autonomy, choice, and downtime. In a natural environment, kids learn effective communication, conflict resolution, and their likes and dislikes. It’s essential to building self-esteem!
  • Community Building: Kids have an opportunity to give back to the world, understand their impact and that humanity extends beyond their own self. We take care of ourselves, our neighborhood & the planet!

What do the kids do each day/week?

Each day kids get free play, snack time, and our activity. We incorporate outdoor time and offer time for homework if you like.

What are your scheduled activities?

  • Monday & Friday: Survey of Sports. Every 4-5 weeks we introduce a new sport for athletes to get a taste without families having to make a huge commitment with leagues. Kids have learned the basics of traditional sports like basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer and the like as well as not so mainstream sports like skateboarding, darts, juggling, dodgeball, gaga ball and even the art of obstacle course racing!
  • Tuesday & Thursday: Fitness Class. Athletes participate in a fitness class specifically programmed for them! We aren’t scaling down adult movements, we are meeting kids where they are and providing skill and movement work to help them grow stronger, develop proprioception, and support the development of their physical literacy. Class is an hour with a warm-up, skill, workout, and cooldown/game. The kids love it and are developing a lifelong love of fitness in the process
  • Wednesday: Community Building. On Wednesdays, athletes get to know their community. We take trips around the community and stop by local businesses, talk with the fire department and police officers, as well as the staff at our favorite parks. The kids learn what it takes to keep the community going, and they find their place. It’s a great day of reflection and fun!

Will you pick my child up from school?

We pick up from PS384, PS78, GVS and a few other school bus stops for out-of-area schools. Our trained coach will walk children to the gym to decompress and for outdoor time before hitting the playgrounds on our community and sport days.

Can I pack a snack for my child?

Yes, of course! Kids are HUNGRY afterschool and we encourage parents to pack an afterschool snack and provide time for your child to eat and decompress once they arrive at the gym and before any activities are in full swing. We are not a nut-free facility unless asked by a parent.

When is end of day pick-up?

Parent pick up is between 5-5:30 with a Walking Bus that will drop your child home by 6 pm. There is no addition charge for walking bus. Registration is required.

Can I just do 1 day a week?

No, we have a minimum of 2 days a week to ensure your child integrates with our program and fellow athletes. You can sign up for one day a week in our new Activity Membership. This allows your child to come to just our activity portion that begins at 4 PM.

Can I register month-to-month?

No, you are required to commit for the semester. Again, consistency is important both for your child and the others in the program. It is valuable when students are getting to build relationships and work on social skills together, and the consistency of fellow students supports that. Although you cannot register month to month, you can set up monthly installment payments rather than paying in full. Again, the commitment is for the semester, and you are financially obligated for the entire semester.

Our Activity Membership is a monthly commitment, autorenewing each month. Cancellation requires 30 days written notice.

How many kids are in after school?

We have between 10-15 kids on any given day, and will cap at 20. We prefer the smaller size to give our athletes one-on-one attention.

What is your staff ratio?

Our coach to athlete ratio is a minimum 1:6. Often we have more coaches during activities. During the school year, we have two after school coaches and an additional activity coach.

How do you staff your program?

We find our coaches through friends and parents like you! They come highly recommended and have experience working with kids. All of our staff is background check and our lead staff is CPR & First Aid certified.

What if my child is absent? Do you provide make ups?

If your child is sick or unable to attend after school one day, we do not have makeup classes.

Activity Membership

New in Fall 2025, athletes can sign up for just our activities! This is a great option for families that want to enroll their children, but don’t need the full time support of our after school program.

Members of our Activity Membership participate with our After School athletes during the activity hour. Activities run M-F from 4 PM to 5 PM. Parents or caregivers can drop off a little before 4 and pick up between 5-5:15. This is a drop off class, but don’t worry, there are two coffee shops just around the corner!

All Activities are one hour long, from 4 PM - 5 PM.
